In the unlikely event of a data infrastructure loss, natural disaster, or other catastrophic scenario, NEJM Evidence has entrusted Portico to preserve access and continuity of all our published content. We maintain current and archival content on separate Literatum and Ovid platforms to further guarantee access in the event of unforeseen outages.

Remote Access for Institutional Users

NEJM Evidence institutional remote access automatically pairs accounts, rather than devices. To gain remote access to your institution’s subscription rights, sign in to or create your free NEJM Evidence account using any device—phone, tablet, laptop, desktop—while simultaneously logged in to your institution’s IP range to have your institution’s access rights automatically paired to your NEJM Evidence account.

Other remote-access options may be available for your institution, such as OpenAthens/Shibboleth. Learn more or contact your site license administrator for more information.

You must be logged in to your institutional network to pair your institution’s NEJM Evidence access rights to your NEJM Evidence account. If you can access your IP network by remote means, like VPN, then you do not have to be physically on campus.

The NEJM Evidence institutional remote-access feature is device agnostic. Any device can be used to initiate institutional remote access, and once activated, you can use any device to access NEJM Evidence, as long as you are signed in to your NEJM Evidence account.

Access to your institution’s NEJM Evidence subscription holdings persist for a period of 180 days. Access is automatically reauthenticated and extended another 180-day period every time you simultaneously sign in to your NEJM Evidence account while within your institution’s network.

Yes, there is a limit of three active concurrent remote access sessions. When the limit is reached, you will need to sign out of your NEJM Evidence account on one of the devices or browsers being used or simply wait 30 minutes until a session has ended.

You can monitor your affiliated institutions and expiration dates from the ‘Remote Access’ section on My Account.
